President Trump again refused to commit to a peaceful transition of power if he lost the election to VP Joe Biden in the debate last night. I think this is one of many very disturbing parts of the debate. Time described The Biggest Moments From the First Presidential Debate and this was one of them.

Damaging American democracy

This quote is quoted from Trump Again Sows Doubt About Election as G.O.P. Scrambles to Assure Voters.

I questioned whether this refusal to commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he lost the election was Impeachable here yesterday but President Trump seems to be sticking to his threat.

Former President Barack Obama warned us of what could happen if Donald Trump was reelected. As I remember many of his speeches that we’ve heard have been more optimistic about the future of America. This was darker but still offered the hope that we would turn the current President out of office before he could continue his assault on democracy to the point where the damage was reversible.

It was an important warning about the importance of voting in the upcoming election. Read the transcript or watch the video.
