Sherlock Holmes: a short Christmas story

The full title is “The Case of the Disappearing Beaune: A Sherlock Holmes Christmas Story” by J. Lawrence Matthews. Beaune is a French wine (I had to look it up). It is pronounced like bone and that leads to a few jokes. I found this to be a good short story and one very suitable for Christmas.

The Beaune is question was a bottle of wine that Sherlock intended to give Watson for Christmas. But on Christmas day they learn that the wine has been removed and the bottle filled with sand. Holmes believes this is a sign that the royal family is in danger and the game is afoot.

I thank Netgalley for allowing me to read it. The story is available for the Kindle and also in paperback.

The author does a great job in telling the story in Conan Doyle’s style. It is a quick read and well-worth reading. It would also make a good present for a Sherlock fan.
