I cannot understand most Republicans in Congress

Does anyone understand most Republicans in Congress? I don’t but perhaps their actions make sense to some.

President Trump disputes the results of an election that he loses. Election officials and security officials certify that it was a fair election. It has actually been called the most secure in history.

An angry mob attacked the Capitol to stop Congress from certifying the results. President Trump invited the mob to Washington and then incited the mob to attack the Capitol and stop Congress from certifying the Electoral College results.

So what do the Republicans do? Many of them (66 percent of the House GOP caucus and eight GOP senators) vote to overturn the election as the mob had demanded. Then the House votes to impeach the President for his part in the attack. Only 10 Republicans vote to impeach but 197 vote the other way.

What happens in the Senate? 90% of Republicans believe they should not even have a trial on the House impeachment. Fortunately that is a minority of the total vote and we will see a trial.

To summarize – Our government is attacked by domestic terrorists and most Republicans repeatedly stand with the terrorists. This is just one example of why I cannot understand most Republicans in Congress
