Is Donald Trump the David Duke of this decade ?

In 2016 Donald Trump said he did not know who David Duke is. He was asked because David Duke, a former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan who ran for the Senate, supported him in the election for President.

I knew about David Duke since I was living in Georgia in 1990 when he ran for the Senate from Louisiana and almost won. It seemed kind of a big deal and I assume it was national news. Somehow Mr. Trump missed it. Or maybe he just forgot or was just untruthful.

Anyway, it was a chapter in our history that may shed a bit of light on the attraction of some for the President who seems to be a white-supremacist but denies it.

I just read an interesting article on this strange chapter and Trump’s appeal. The article is –

The Nationalist’s Delusion: Trump’s supporters backed a time-honored American political tradition, disavowing racism while promising to enact a broad agenda of discrimination.

Read it if you have a chance, especially if you are undecided about this election. The article is a few years old but may shed some light on today’s issues.
