Taxes of Donald Trump

Donald Trump has played himself as billionaire on reality TV. He is currently President of the United States. He does not seem to be a successful businessman as evidenced in his tax returns but seems to have convinced many people that he is very successful in business and a billionaire.

As the Times says:

By their very nature, the filings will leave many questions unanswered, many questioners unfulfilled. They comprise information that Mr. Trump has disclosed to the I.R.S., not the findings of an independent financial examination. They report that Mr. Trump owns hundreds of millions of dollars in valuable assets, but they do not reveal his true wealth.

So this reporting on his income tax does not show his assets, just that he claims to the IRS that he has lost more than he made in most years. Not a sign of a good businessman.

I’m not sure what will outrage Americans more. That he presented himself as a great businessman and so lied. Or that he is very rich and pays much less income tax than most of us.
