Save the children from the President

President Trump thinks we are in a good place regarding the pandemic. He would like schools to open in the fall. Of course most parents would like that too. And doctors and teachers agree. However all of those groups would like our schools to be safe when they open. The lives of children should be a top priority.

President Trump is pushing an opening. He will pressure governors. He has threatened to deny federal aid to those areas not fully opening. He is pressuring CDC to water-down guidelines. School safety seems less important. Has he learned anything as a cornavirus spreads in states that have reopened before they were ready?

This is how CNN puts it. This is the opening of the article. Read it all if this part sounds like something you might find of interest.

President Donald Trump’s new push to open schools shows he’s learned nothing from calamities sparked by his demands for premature state openings.

The coronavirus pandemic is again rearing out of control, rising in a majority of states as a new warning comes that more than 200,000 Americans could be dead by Election Day. The United States on Tuesday recorded 60,021 new cases of the virus, a new single day record.

But Trump barreled forward anyway, failing to offer detailed proposals or planning on the imminent question of how schools could open safely as soon as next month even as he admitted he intended to crank up pressure on governors to do what he wants.

If you are a parent, you might want to consider whether you want you child or children to be part of President Trump’s folly. So far CDC is resisting pressure to weaken the guidelines on school reopening.
