The Senate has voted not to remove President Trump from office. It’s not that he wasn’t guilty of the charges in the impeachment trial.

The case was proved by overwhelming evidence. Perhaps Senator Alexander said it best:

“If you’ve got eight witnesses saying that you left the scene of an accident, you don’t need nine.”

The above quote is from The Atlantic. The same logic was the reason the Senate chose to have a trial without witnesses. Republican Senators held the majority and they decided on the no-witness-trial and the verdict of NOT guilty.

Many of the Republican Senators said they believed than President Trump would learn a lesson from this experience. He did learn a lesson. It just wasn’t the one his protectors had in mind.

Perhaps these post-impeachment actions will give them second thoughts.
