Is advertising for Supreme Court nominees a new thing? I was very surprised to see ads for Judge Gorsuch when he was nominated. Now I see ads for Judge Kavanaugh and I am still saddened but less suprised.

Is this something new? I do not recall seeing similar ads for Supreme Court nominees before these 2 nominees. Maybe I am wrong, but this type advertising for Supreme Court nominees seems to be a new thing. Is it President Trump’s idea? Is is someone in his administration?
