When this government shutdown was just a few days old I wrote that Shutdown is failure and a result of giving parties too much power.

As you can easily guess my major point was about the excessive power of political parties but I also said

there is a considerable humanitarian aspect to funding the NIH. The shutdown prevents NIH from enrolling new patients in clinical trials and patients could die as a result.

Another problem is highlighted in Shutdown Imperils Costly Lab Mice, Years Of Research.

But then if Congress is not motivated by the death of men, women, and children, will they be motivated by the death of lab animals and the cost to research?

Open the government as soon as possible!
