\r\nMichael REIDY (great grandfather) immigrated from Irl to\r\n America. But no one's been able to go beyond him or his father\r\n in Irl. A couple years back we celebrated the 100th\r\n anniversary of his crossing the Atlantic.<\/p>\r\n \r\n
\r\nAfter years of wondering my lineage, I have begin a serious search. My 94 yr old grandfather remembers little of his father. But from what he knows:
\r\nHis father\u2019s name was Edward Edleman and was adopted. His original name was Reidy (of some spelling). He was 53 when he died in 1935. So, that would make him born in 1882. I know he was adopted in the USA. He died in Lorain OH. That is all I have to go on at this point. His wife was born in North Baltimore Ohio and her maiden name was Pallinger. I have no knowledge of his birthplace, parents names, or if he was adopted from an orphanage. \r\n

In 1880 located them in Chicago, Il. at 3016 Quinn St. In 1900 in Chicago, Il. at 3526 Union St. Children: Patrick, Michael, David (my grandfather-married Minnie MANNING), Charles-d 1988. Also, Mary A. Reidy, d 1913 (married William Williams-1886).\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n similar name of Irish origin<\/h3>\r\n

\r\nMary RUDDY (b c 1891 in Scotland or Ireland) to Thomas RUDDY & Bridget Teresa MORRISON. Lived on Killery Farm, Louisburg, Co Mayo, Ireland. Mary emigrated to the United States along with siblings: Austin, Martin, Kathleen & Julia. Siblings John & Thomas Jr. believed to have stayed in Ireland. Bridget probably came from Scotland. <\/p>\r\n\r\n
\r\nMy Reddy's came to Australia from Co. Carlow - four siblings John, William, Mary and Eliza. Their names have become Ready and Reedy now rather than the original Reddy. John and William both settled in the Warwick area. Mary married William Slack in Ipswich in 1861 and her family settled in the Ipswich\/Rosewood area of Queensland. Eliza's story is unknown at this stage. Their parents were James and Bridget Reddy. A reunion is being organised for March 2002 - we have various contacts to piece together the descendants of John, William and Mary but nothing at all for Eliza. - would love to hear from anyone from these families. \r\n\r\n
\r\nJames Ruddy (son of Daniel Ruddy and Ann unknown) mar Ellen Murphy (dau of Patrick Murphy and Margaret Madden of Limerick?) in 1857 in Fairview Twsp, Allamakee County, Iowa . James took over a farm belonging to A Thomas Ruddy who died in 1854. Moved to Fairfax, Renville County MN in 1870. Sold half the farm to his brother Michael Ruddy (see below). Both James and Ellen died in MN. Their son James m. Anna Victoria McNULTY, had 4 children, and died in Chicago in 1904.
Michael married Catherine in either Liverpool or Ireland. Had son Thomas in Liverpool in 1836 moved to New York City, had daughter Mary Ann, and son Daniel moved to Syracuse, New York and had son Richard, this family moved about 1862 to Iowa. \r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nnon-Irish but sound the same<\/h3>\r\n
\r\nMy REEDY line is probably German, and goes back as far as Phillip Reedy (b. c 1792 in ??? and d. 1828 in Hardin Co., OH), mar to Susannah SHOWALTER (b. ab. 1798 in Rockingham Co., VA and d. after 1829 in Zanesville, OH). Two of their children were named Jacob Jay and John S., and both were married to daughters of Daniel HUFFORD (Sarah and Susannah, respectively).<\/p>\r\n\r\n
\r\nThis REEDY line goes back to 1700 in Switzerland and Germany then to Northumberland Co, PA and Grayson Co, VA in the U.S.<\/p>\r\n\r\n
\r\nMy germanic RIEDY line emigrated from Alsace Lorraine to DuPage County, Illinois in the 1830s. The records from Alsace go back to about 1700 and variant spellings include RIEDE and RIETHE. The family may have been in Switzerland before 1700.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n
