Edward MacLysaght (1887-1986) was the Chief Herald of Ireland and the leading authority of Irish names A rather inexpensive means of enjoying MacLysaght's scholarship. I have this book and constantly look up names for people on various lists. The blurb on the back of the book says more than 4,000 names are listed. I didn't count but I know there are a good many of them. Cross references to MacLysaught's other books which are unfortunately out of print. But you may be able to find these through Amazon or other sources.
A favorite of mine. By the editor of the former Irish Roots magazine. A fine, yet inexpensive, guide to tracing your Irish Roots. Discusses 12 major sources in considerable detail.
