About

Jack

I retired in 2008 and so I have more time now to devote to several of my interests The blog here is mainly for my interests in current events and genealogy. I also like to review books and may have the occasional rant on other subjects.

Being retired is great because I can pick and choose what I want to do and when I do it. I think volunteering is a big part of that. For example, I have volunteered my time as part of a team to help our township evaluated an aspect of their computer system. And then again when they wanted to re-do their website. I also volunteer as part of a team that has built and maintained the website for my community (Hershey’s Mill in southeastern Pennsylvania).

When I had a job

After receiving my PhD in Human Genetics, I spent the next 30 years at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta. I actually got to use my genetics training for about half the time I was there. During the last dozen years there I developed and managed databases and did data analysis in analytical chemistry laboratory.

It is said that I’m a man of a few words but summarizing 30 years in 3 sentences may even exceed the expectations of some.

  1. Hi,

I am trying to find a John Reedy, who is the son of Robert E. Reedy, and Lauretta O’Brien. Robert E. Reedy’s father was Daniel Reedy Jr., whose father was Daniel Reedy b. 1805 (Co. Kerry, Ireland)d 1875 Jersey county IL.
I am related to Lauretta O’Brien and would like to contact John Reedy, to exchange information on our geneology. John left some information on blogs, but I have not been able to email him, maybe he changed his email address.

    Thanks,

    Tom Salomone

  2. Hi Tom,

I have a few webpages for people searching REIDY , REEDY, RIEDY, etc. Quite a few have left queries, often with an email address. Sometime the email is old and doesn’t work but quite a few email me with changes including updating email addresses as needed. So you might want to check there.

The page (with links to subpages) is
