Knucklehead for President

The words grabbed my attention. I can just see someone shouting “Knucklehead for President”. The “stuff happens” part also appealed to me but it was the knucklehead business that really got my attention.

The article was “Stuff Happens to the Environment, Like Climate Change” by Thomas L. Friedman (@tomfriedman) and here is how it begins:

With both China and India having just announced major plans to curb their carbon emissions, the sound you hear is a tipping point tipping. Heading into the United Nations climate summit meeting in Paris in December, all the world’s largest industrial economies are now taking climate change more seriously. This includes the United States — except for some of the knuckleheads running to be our next president, which is not a small problem.

He did not name the Party but we know who he means. I don’t think those running in the primary are knuckleheads. Most have backgrounds that would leave us to believe they are a pretty smart bunch. But the answers to questions or some of the statements just scream “Knucklehead for President”.

It seems to me climate change is one of the bigger problems facing us. Of course there are plenty of problems and this is just one but it has the potential to be a disaster. It seems to me a real achievement would be growing the economy while addressing climate change. Indeed it seems finding technologies which reduce our carbon footprint while producing will not only be of benefit itself but make us an economic leader.

But if we elect a knucklehead for President who ignores science we will only put ourselves in a worse position.
