The Conservatarian Manifesto reviewed

I’ve spent a good amount of time the past few weeks reading this book, thinking, re-reading, and re-thinking my ideas about politics. Although far from being a believer in the right-wing of American politics, I thought this was a very good book.

The Conservatarian Manifesto: Libertarians, Conservatives, and the Fight for the Right’s Future by Charles C.W. Cooke presents his beliefs that neither conservatives nor libertarians have a coherent solution to good governing.

They have enough in common that they frequently agree on what they are against but not so much agreement on what they are for.

He believes a synthesis of these 2 traditional beliefs into a “conservatarian” theory is superior to either alone. And reasonably enough, he believes a Republican Party is the best hope for a conservative United States government.

It is a good book and one I keep coming back to. I think many of his ideas makes sense but I disagree with some and I’m still thinking about others.

Although I do not seem to be in his target audience, I think The Conservatarian Manifesto is a good book. It gave me a better understanding of those on the right. And made me think.
